Superior Inc. Recognized for Export Achievement

Superior Inc., a manufacturer of grain storage and handling systems out of Kindred, ND was presented with the US Department of Commerce’s Export Achievement Certificate on Monday, Oct. 1.  The award was presented by the US Commercial Service and Representative Rick Berg.  The Export Achievement Award recognizes companies that have shown growth in exports, remained in good financial standing, and demonstrated a willingness to talk with other businesses about expanding their export market.

“There is so much potential internationally,” said Jon Engelstad, International Sales Manager for Superior.  “With the world population growing at such a fast rate, agricultural development is expanding worldwide and with increased crop production, there is a tremendous need for grain storage.”

Superior Inc. has manufactured high quality grain handling systems since 1977, and is one of the largest manufacturers of grain equipment in the Midwest.  In recent years, Superior Inc. has increased the company’s international exports significantly; today, exports account for 45 percent of Superior’s business.  Many farm operations in Australia, Canada, Zimbabwe and South Africa are currently using Superior Inc products, with business also being done in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Romania, New Zealand, Uruguay and several other African countries.

“We were very honored to receive this award,” said Engelstad.  “Although we are relatively new to exporting, we are committed to developing this market and this award re-affirms that commitment.”
