Seminar offers roadmap for international expansion

North Dakota companies interested in expanding into the global marketplace are encouraged to attend a seminar Aug. 8 and 9 that will provide a roadmap for successful international expansion.

The North Dakota Trade Office and University of North Dakota Center for Innovation are sponsoring seminars entitled “A Roadmap for International Distribution” in Grand Forks and Fargo. The seminar also will be available across the state via Internet Webinar.

Asmah Tareen, an attorney with the law firm of Fredrikson & Byron, will help business leaders plan for international distribution. Tareen’s presentation will include an overview of how to structure international operations, choose distribution partners, protect intellectual property and draft export contracts.

Tareen, a native of Cavalier, N.D., is a senior associate within Fredrikson & Byron’s International and E-Business groups. Tareen advises her clients on a variety of domestic and international business transactions including licensing, distribution, import-export compliance and customs issues. Tareen is a frequent speaker at business seminars involving technology, corporate governance and international business.

“A Roadmap for International Distribution” will be held in Grand Forks on Aug. 8 and in Fargo Aug. 9.

The Grand Forks event will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the UND Center for Innovation, 4200 James Ray Drive, in Grand Forks. Lunch will be provided. The Grand Forks seminar is free for North Dakota Trade Office members and $15 for non-members.

In Fargo, the seminar will be held 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Radisson Inn, 210 N. 5th St. A continental breakfast will be served. The Fargo event is free for Trade Office members and $10 for non-members.
