NDTO Researches Romania Tradeshows

The North Dakota Trade Office’s director of agricultural machinery is on a mission.  Tom Wollin is headed to Romania next week to “scout” two trade shows taking place there to find out which one would be the best fit for our members.  The first, RomAgroTec, is one of the largest and longest running shows held in the region.  It has an emphasis on farm equipment and is held in Bucharest.

The second show Wollin will investigate is the brand new AgriPlanta exhibit.  This show is also held near Bucharest and features ag equipment, seeds, chemicals and test plots.  AgriPlanta is organized by the same company that does Agritecnica, the largest ag equipment show in the world which is held annually in Hanover, Germany.

“We want to review both of these shows to find which show will be the best fit for our members and their needs.  Should one prove to be a good fit we will also consider adding a show in Romania for next year’s schedule.” Wollin said.

While in Romania, Wollin will also make a side trip to take part in Agro 2011, which will be held in Kiev, Ukraine June 2-5.  Some of the NDTO member companies also attending include Summers Manufacturing, Brandt Holdings, Legacy Steel Buildings, Sorm, Superior Inc., RDO Equipment, NDSU, and NDSCS.  Andrey Sova, NDTO market manager for Ukraine, is organizing the mission.  Agro 2011 is the biggest show in Ukraine which attracts professionals from all over the country. The government pays a lot of attention to this show. “The Minister of Agrarian Policy is going to attend the first day for the official opening” added Sova.  Andrey lives in Kiev, which gives him a unique perspective on the growing export markets in Ukraine and other newly independent states.
