The North Dakota Trade Office (NDTO) will be hosting two specialty crop reverse trade missions in August 2017. The trade missions, focused on beans, peas, lentils, chickpeas and more, will gather vetted buyers from Peru and the Philippines. The reverse trade missions are a follow up to the outbound trade missions led by Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring and NDTO in March 2017.
The Peru-North Dakota reverse trade mission will take place August 14-18. Mission activities planned include educational programs on pulse ingredients and applications at the Northern Crops Institute, meetings and tours with specialty crop companies, and networking dinners for North Dakota companies and Peruvian delegates.
The Philippines-North Dakota reverse trade mission will take place August 21-25 and be a similar format as above, with delegates participating in training at the Northern Crops Institute followed by one-on-one meetings with North Dakota companies.
Both reverse trade missions are building on the relationships developed during the ‘Better for You Food Ingredients’ Conference and Exhibition that took place in Lima and Manila respectively. These missions seek to promote the taste and health benefits of specialty crops to Peruvian and Philippine food buyers and processors.
